Overview

The VCU Department of Otolaryngology has a proud and enduring tradition of research excellence, supported by the robust infrastructure of a major university medical center. Our department actively engages in basic, clinical, and translational research across the full spectrum of otolaryngologic subspecialties. This breadth allows us to explore fundamental biological mechanisms, develop innovative therapies, and translate findings directly into improved patient care.

Our faculty and trainees collaborate across disciplines and benefit from access to state-of-the-art laboratories, clinical research units, and institutional support for grant development and scholarly dissemination. Whether investigating cochlear implant outcomes, advancing surgical techniques, or studying molecular pathways in cancer, our research efforts are deeply integrated into our educational mission and clinical practice. Through this dynamic and comprehensive approach, we continue to contribute meaningful discoveries to the field and train the next generation of physician-scientists.
